Nora Hoffmann and Maxim Zavozin finished 10th place in World Championships, Turin. They teamed up in 2007, after Nora’s breakup with his former partner, Attila Elek. Nora and Max are training with Alexei Gorshkov in Moscow. They had injuries, illnesses during their preparation last year and their first finished competition was Nebelhorn Trophy to get olympic quote. As they are really fighting and full of energy pair, the have great results from 2009/2010.
At first they convinced judges in European Championship where they finished 10th like in WC. Mainly as a fresh pair it was very hard to catch judges because lots of them are old and enchanted by conventional dances, but as we saw, the hungarian hip-hop shaked them so much between the too much “deaths” on the ice (e.g. Bobrova – Soloviev’s and Carron-Jones’s Adagio)
Olympic is a special competition in life of every athletes.. Nora and Max finished 13th after a great original and more crazy hip-hop. I watched them so carefully, because I really like them and worried for them:) They proved they can be convincing without sport diplomacy (but I’d be more calmed if they would have some).
However I heard today, Max was ill yesterday, mainly before their free dance, he had a very strong stomach flu and Max wasn’t sure about competing afternoon. And he showed he is a really fighting spirit (as my sweet Brian:) and can’t let great results get lost. With a very little mistake, but they performed a great free dance, got a huge clap from the audience, and got points almost like olympics!!!
So, I think they preapared for step up more and be in the world’s top 10 pairs next year! They’ll be in Grand Prix competitions and all world competitions as well.
What I learned from this? If you have a great aim, don’t miss it.!You can cry after, you can be tired after, you can get well after, but never miss your showtime!
