The United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) in the last five years supported many ice skating movies. Ice Princess in 2005 promoted the – impossible – single skating started in teen age , but Cutting edge 1 – 2 - 3 – 4. were about pairs skating,. The knew it’s like a fairy tale, but attractive to kids, however no one gets triples in a half year or wins worlds title with a new partner. But it motivates kids to start this sport. This movie, Rise will be about the american figure skating’s history.
USA is supporting junior edication with high amount as Russia does the same , however Russia seems so much better now, according to checking the 13 years old triple axel jumper Elizaveta Tuktamisheva, the 12 years old Julia Lipnitskaya, but Sotnikova, Shelepen and Agafonova are in very great condition now. So USA has to make it’s campaign harder, using PR tools too (according to it’s high and qualitative sources as a worldwide power in movie making, USA has a great chance to use it very well). It is very important, because figure skating has a weak prestige compared to ball games or athletics.
Officially Rise will be made for the memory of the 1961 plane crash in Brussels before the world championship in Warsaw, when 18 american figure skaters died. U.S. Figure Skating’s Memorial Fund will be supported by the income, which was founded in 1961, after the accident.
Evan Lysacek, retired 2010 olympic champion will promote the movie in the US figure skating championship 2011. The premier will be organized in 500 movies in the same time in the whole country. As narrators we can see Michelle Kwan, five times world champion, Brian Boitano, 1988 olympic champion and Scott Hamilton 1984 olympic champion.
